Nutritional Consultation - 45 Minutes

 

At METS Performance Consulting we understand the costs and difficulty associated with hiring a nutritionist or dietitian. The METS Nutritional Consultation is aimed at individuals who want to improve their training, recovery and performances through nutrition, as well as the general population looking to lose weight or gain muscle. Our goal is to educate you to understand what types of food to eat, why these foods are a good choice, the affect each nutrient has on your body, and how much you should consume. We believe that education is the key to a healthier population, and this consultation puts you a big step in the right direction. You will leave empowered with knowledge, with all the basics you need to know to begin achieving your nutritional goals, and motivation to be the best you can be.

We offer two different types of consultation:

ATHLETE NUTRITION:

  • Discussion of the macronutrients: percentage of carbohydrate, protein and fat optimal for YOU.
  • The role of carbohydrates in endurance training: its function as a primary energy source.
  • The role of protein in recovery.
  • The role of fat as an energy source and in healthy functioning: discussion explaining the good fats and bad fats.
  • Nutrition as a recovery mechanism: the importance of quick eating following training/racing.
  • Discussion on energy expenditure during exercise: fat vs carbohydrate vs protein contribution.
  • Carbohydrate loading before an endurance event: how it works and how you can implement it.
  • The crucial importance of iron and B-group vitamins on endurance performance.

WEIGHT LOSS:

  • Discussion of the macronutrients: percentage of carbohydrate, protein and fat optimal for YOU.
  • The role of carbohydrates in losing weight: the reasons you SHOULDN'T avoid them.
  • The role of protein in losing weight: water loss vs fat loss.
  • The role of fat in losing weight: discussion around satiety and education on good vs bad fats.
  • The importance of a balanced diet including education on vitamins and minerals and the effects they have on health.
  • Reading food labels: what to look for when you're trying to lose weight.
  • The importance of eating regularly and not starving yourself: the influence on your compliance, cravings, metabolism and health.
