The below video explains what a VO2 max test is and whether or not you should include lactate analysis. Please watch this video as well as the one below it before your scheduled appointment.

The below video was originally recorded to help you understand your data post-test. However we highly recommend you watch the video prior to your test so you have a basic understanding of what the numbers mean. We will not have time to explain what all the metrics mean unless you pay for an additional 30-minute consult. In order for us to give you the best training advice, it’s important that you watch the below and familiarise yourself with the basics explained.

VO2 Max/Lactate Test

What to bring:

  • Comfortable exercise clothing.

  • Runners (treadmill and rowing tests).

  • Bike pedals and shoes (cycling tests), unless bringing your own bike, or if you have Shimano ROAD cleats, as we already have a pair of Shimano road pedals.

  • Heart rate strap, drink bottle, towel. We have HR straps if you do not own one.

Recommendations:

  • Avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours prior.


What to bring:

  • Comfortable exercise clothing

  • Towel(s) to wipe down post test.

  • Drink Bottle(s)

  • Runners (treadmill and rowing tests).

  • Cycling shoes (cycling tests), unless bringing your own bike. We have standard Shimano & Look Road pedals for use, please bring your own pedals if you use an alternative.

Recommendations:

  • Avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours prior.

What to bring:

  • Comfortable clothing.

Recommendations:

  • Avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours prior.

  • Avoid eating for 4 hours prior.

  • Avoid caffeine consumption/other stimulants for 24 hours if possible.


Consulting

What to bring:

  • A clear idea of key races and goals on your calendar.

  • Notepad and pen is a good idea if you're a note-taker.

Recommendations:

  • Ensure your training has been recently uploaded to an online software such as TrainingPeaks or Garmin Connect.


Skinfolds

What to bring:

  • Loose-fit shorts as we will take a measurement from the middle of your thigh.

  • (Females): sports bra, crop top or equivalent, as we will take a measurement from your shoulder blade and abdomin.
